SEANTAL SR. SEWELL

"Fun fact: I've built 2,000 brands and I still have no idea how to explain my job to my family."
I quit my job at 7-Eleven with no backup plan. Ten years and 2,000 brands later, it's still the best decision I've made.
Currently: Florida. My laptop. Way too many opinions about spacing.
Back in 2016 I was working a job I knew wasn't mine, taking classes, and carrying a depression I didn't have language for yet. Every day looked like the one before it.
One night, alone in my room, I ran out of composure. Lord, you promised good plans for me. Where is the light?
Nothing happened that night.
It happened at work, a while later. A Jim Rohn video playing in the background, one line: if you want your life to change, you have to change.
That was the whole turn. I wasn't trapped by my circumstances. I was staying in them. So I stopped waiting.

Not long after that, my sister called. She had a client who needed a logo.
I said yes before I had any business saying yes. Then I went and learned everything I could get my hands on — logos, graphics, and eventually websites, which became the thing I couldn't put down.
What surprised me was the part nobody warned me about. I got obsessed with why people buy. Customer psychology, persuasion, the reason one page converts and a prettier one doesn't. Design was the craft. Marketing was the puzzle. Putting them together is what turned into JOA.
That was one yes. It's now ten years, 2,000 brands, and 25 industries.
I don't take credit for the number. The door showed up before the credentials did, and it kept happening that way.

What I believe about the work
I'll tell you the unglamorous truth about this job: most of it is deleting things.
Founders come in wanting more. More pages, more sections, more explaining. Almost every time, the fix is less.
One clear point per screen. A button that goes somewhere.
You'd be amazed how expensive a site can look once you take half of it out. That's the whole magic trick, and I just gave it away for free.

THAT ONE THING
I'm Actually Good At
Finding the one thing that's off.
You know that feeling when a site looks fine and something still reads cheap and you can't put your finger on it? I can put my finger on it. Usually in about ninety seconds, usually it's not what you assumed, and usually it's a message problem wearing a design costume.
Everything else comes after that.
A FEW THINGS THAT ARE TRUE ABOUT ME
I'm God's daughter first.
Everything on this page comes after that
Island gal. Jamaican.
It shows up in the food and the opinions.
Master chef in the making
[Ambitious. Unverified. Standing by it.]
I pray over launches
Every one, and I don't skip it when we're behind.
I REMAIN UNDEFEATED
I have never lost an argument about a font.
